Bryan Aspey (born July 12, 1978) is an American guitarist and songwriter. Aspey began playing guitar at the age of 10, after being inspired by bands like Guns N’ Roses and Def Leppard. Within a few years, he was playing in rock and metal bands, teaching guitar in a local music store, and had performed on stage with jazz legend Billy Taylor, and in a televised masterclass with guitarist Pat Metheny.
While completing his studies in Jazz Improvisation, Composition and Audio Engineering at James Madison University, Aspey pursued interests in Jazz, Flamenco, Celtic and Electronic music. He recorded and toured with Scottish fiddle virtuoso Bonnie Rideout from 2000 to 2006, playing in sold out venues across the US and abroad. Aspey then studied with renowned Paraguayan guitarist Berta Rojas, and developed a repertoire of solo guitar music from Latin America.
As a performer and recording artist, Bryan Aspey has four CDs to his credit, including his solo acoustic album, Frozen Hours. He has won multiple international guitar competitions (with judges including Brett Garsed, Marco Sfogli and Rusty Cooley) and his work has been recognized in a number of leading guitar magazines. Aspey has also performed in and produced popular videos for the Epiphone guitar company, and recently released several guitar instructional apps for iPhone.
